With his nomination in the Popular Player of the Year category of the Pulsar Sports Award 2070, national cricket team skipper Paras Khadka has become the only player to be nominated in the category for the second time in a row.
Paras, synonymous with Nepali cricket, has proved himself as an able captain and talented player guiding his team to new heights in the year 2070 BS.
The Sports Award is organized annually by the Nepal Sports Journalist Forum. The Popular Player of the Year award winner will be decided on the basis of SMS votes and Facebook “Likes” received by the nominees. Young footballer Bimal Gharti Magar, swimmer Sofia Shah, athlete Yam Sajan Sunuwar and volleyball player Saraswati Chaudhary are the other nominees for the award.
Under Paras’ captaincy, Nepal achieved its biggest success ever by reaching the finals of the World T20. Not only has Paras established himself as a phenomenal player on the field, but also off it with his confident display.

Paras further proved his mettle in the World T20 Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates. He scored 232 runs, including a half-century, in 10 matches. Paras scored 46 runs against Hong Kong to help Nepal reach the World T20 finals. He was listed among the top 11 players of cricinfo.com, a popular cricket website.
